Game Overview

Romancia is one of those NES-era Falcom RPGs that looks way friendlier than it actually is—don’t let the chunky, colorful sprites fool you. You play as a kid (or maybe a tiny knight?) running around slashing monsters, grabbing keys, and figuring out how to unlock the next area. It’s got that classic Dragon Slayer vibe but stripped down, so it’s less punishing than its older siblings. Still, some of those dungeon layouts will make you scratch your head for a bit.

Fun little detail: Your sword swings in this weird arc, so you’ve gotta get up close and personal with enemies. Took me a few deaths to stop whiffing attacks like an amateur. The music’s also surprisingly catchy for such a short game.
