Game Overview

I first played Round The Bend! - Doc Croc's Outrageous Adventures! on the Amiga back in 1990. It was developed by Krisalis Software and published by Virgin Games, a time when the Amiga was full of colorful, ambitious platformers. This one stood out with its Saturday morning cartoon aesthetic, based on the TV show, but it didn't try to reinvent the wheel; it just offered a solid, cheerful run and jump experience.

You control Doc Croc, a cheerful crocodile in a lab coat, and your goal is to rescue your friends from the villainous Cuddles. The gameplay is straightforward platforming: you run, jump over gaps, and bounce on enemies. A signature mechanic is the Bubblegum Blaster, a power-up that lets you shoot sticky gum to temporarily trap foes. Levels are filled with hazards like spikes and bottomless pits, and the challenge comes from precise jumps and avoiding environmental dangers. The pacing is brisk, and some later stages demand quick reflexes and good timing. Playing it feels like guiding a cheerful, bumbling hero through a vibrant and occasionally punishing cartoon world.
