Game Overview

Second Front: Germany Turns East came out in 1990 from Strategic Simulations, Inc. for MS-DOS. It was one of those detailed war games that felt right at home on a PC in the early 90s, with its hex grids and data-heavy interface. You don't get flashy graphics, just a lot of strategic depth to dig into.

You command German forces during Operation Barbarossa, managing everything from individual panzer divisions to air support and supply depots. The goal is to capture key Soviet cities before your offensive stalls. Key mechanics include moving units across a large strategic map, managing fragile supply lines that can be cut by enemy partisans, and engaging in tactical combat on separate screens. The pacing is deliberate, often slow, and the difficulty is high; one wrong move in the harsh Russian winter can collapse your entire front. It feels like conducting a vast, precarious military operation where every decision has weight.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
