You can actually turn into some of the enemies you beat, which keeps fights unpredictable.

What’s neat is you get to choose your first few stages in any order, and between levels, there’s this sudden fighting game mini-mode where you duel for extra lives. Health pickups are usually food (because why not?), and it’s way more fun with a buddy. Boss fights get ridiculous in the best way—expect giant monsters and screen-filling chaos.
