Game Overview

Shaq Fu came out on the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by Delphine Software International. It was a strange time for licensed games, and this one definitely stood out, even among the weirdest titles on the system. You controlled Shaquille O'Neal in a side scrolling beat 'em up that felt completely disconnected from his basketball career.

You move Shaq through a series of linear levels, punching and kicking an assortment of bizarre enemies, from possessed cult members to strange monsters. The main goal is to rescue a boy from an ancient sorcerer. The combat relies on special moves executed with awkward button combinations; pulling them off feels more like luck than skill. The pacing is slow, and the hit detection is notoriously unreliable, making every encounter a gamble. Playing it feels like wrestling with the controller more than the enemies on screen.
