Shin Sangoku Musou: Multi Raid 2 came out for the PlayStation Portable in 2010, developed by Omega Force and published by Koei Tecmo. It was part of that wave of portable action games that tried to pack big console energy into a handheld, and it stood out for its over the top take on the Dynasty Warriors formula. You pick a hero from Romance of the Three Kingdoms and dive into chaotic battlefields where you cut down hundreds of enemy soldiers. Your main goal is to complete missions by defeating key targets or clearing areas, often culminating in dramatic boss fights against giant mythical creatures. Two big mechanics define the experience: the ability to transform into a powered up state for limited periods, and four player co-op through ad hoc multiplayer. The pacing is fast and relentless, with little downtime between waves of enemies. It feels like controlled mayhem, especially when you pull off a huge combo or take down a screen filling boss with friends.
