Shock Troopers - 2nd Squad is one of those arcade shooters that just feels right—fast, chaotic, and packed with explosions. You pick from a squad of mercenaries (I always go for the guy with the grenade launcher, because why not?) and blast through waves of enemies in that classic top-down view. The controls are simple—run, shoot, dodge—but the levels get seriously intense, with bullets flying everywhere and bosses that actually make you sweat.
What’s cool is that each character plays differently—some are faster, some hit harder, and a few have weird specialty weapons that change how you approach fights. The first time I tried the flamethrower guy, I accidentally torched half the scenery along with the enemies. No regrets.
If you’ve ever wasted quarters on arcade shooters back in the day, this one’s a no-brainer. Just don’t blame me when you get hooked on chasing high scores.
