Play Silent Service II Online
Command a WWII submarine, complete patrols, sink enemy ships, and manage your crew while staying hidden in Silent Service II.
Silent Service II came out in 1990 from MicroProse, a developer well known for its detailed simulations on MS-DOS. It was part of that era when games asked you to learn complex systems rather than just react quickly, putting you in command of a World War II submarine with a focus on realism over spectacle.
You control the submarine from a first-person perspective, managing everything from periscope depth to torpedo targeting. The main objective is to complete patrol missions by sinking enemy ships and avoiding detection. Key mechanics include plotting intercept courses on a strategic map, manually aiming and firing torpedoes while accounting for target speed and direction, and carefully managing noise and battery levels to stay hidden. The pacing is deliberate, often involving long periods of waiting followed by intense, high-stakes engagements. It feels like a tense game of cat and mouse where every decision carries weight.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
