SNK Arcade Classics Vol.1 came out on the PlayStation Portable in 2008, published by SNK Playmore. It was a solid collection for its time, bringing a bunch of arcade hits to a handheld, which felt pretty special back when the PSP was still a big deal. You control various characters depending on the game, like Marco in Metal Slug, blasting through soldiers and rescuing POWs, or jumping into King of Fighters for some team based battles. The main goal is usually to clear stages, beat bosses, and sometimes unlock extra content. Signature mechanics include dodging enemy fire while shooting back, performing special moves with precise inputs, and managing limited continues. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be brutal, just like the original arcade versions.
