Sonic Compilation – Sonic Classics came out in 1995 for the Sega Genesis, or Mega Drive in some regions, and was published by Sega. It bundled the first three mainline Sonic platformers into a single cartridge, making it a convenient way to revisit the series during the console's later years.

You control Sonic the Hedgehog, and sometimes Tails in two-player mode, as you race through vibrant, side-scrolling stages filled with loops, ramps, and enemies. The main objective is to reach the end of each act while collecting rings and freeing trapped animals. Signature mechanics include building momentum to blast through intricate level paths, using spin attacks to break monitors and defeat robots, and carefully managing your ring count as a health buffer. The pacing is relentlessly fast, though certain zones, like the infamous Labyrinth Zone, deliberately slow you down with precise platforming and water sections.
