Game Overview

Okay, so Soccer Kid is this weirdly charming MS-DOS platformer where you’re basically a little dude who solves everything by kicking a soccer ball. Like, enemies? Kick the ball at them. Need to jump higher? Bounce on the ball. Lose your ball? You can magically summon a new one, but it costs you bonus points—so try not to get reckless.

The levels are split between two stages (except for two shorter ones), and each country has its own ridiculous boss. Italy’s is an opera singer, because of course it is. To actually win, you’ve gotta hunt down hidden football cards in each stage to unlock bonus areas and collect cup pieces. Miss one, and you’re backtracking.

Oh, and before you start, you can customize Soccer Kid’s outfit by mashing buttons at the title screen—handy if you want him to rep your favorite team’s colors. Enemies are all over the place: cyclists, sailors, even robots for some reason. The 3DO version had this weird promo reel for cancelled games, but honestly, the DOS version’s the one worth playing. It’s janky, but in that way where you can’t help but love it.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
