Game Overview
Ever played the original Sonic the Hedgehog and gotten wrecked by that weird spike bug where you'd bounce straight into them instead of away? Yeah, that's fixed here. Some genius also decided to sneak in the Spindash from Sonic 2, which honestly feels like it should've been there all along—just hold down and rev up before blasting off like a blue cannonball.
It's still the same Green Hill Zone you remember, just... better. The levels haven't changed, but the controls feel tighter, and you won't lose a life to some janky collision glitch. If you've got nostalgia for the Genesis days but don't miss the rough edges, this is the way to replay it. The Spindash alone makes backtracking for missed rings way less annoying.
Honestly, it's the version I wish we got back in '91.
