Play Sonic 3D Blast Online
Sonic moves slower in this isometric take—you bust robots to free birds, then hustle them to warp rings before hunting hidden emeralds. Weirdly satisfying once you adjust to the pace.

Sonic 3D Blast came out for the Sega Genesis in 1996, developed by Traveller's Tales. It was a late release for the system, arriving when many players were already looking toward newer consoles. The game tried something different by shifting Sonic into an isometric perspective, a notable departure from the traditional side-scrolling levels fans were used to.
You control Sonic as he moves through levels viewed from a fixed angle, collecting rings and defeating Robotnik's badniks. The main goal is to find and break open these robots to release trapped Flickies, then guide groups of them to a warp ring before you can finish the stage. You also hunt for giant rings that transport you to special stages where you can collect Chaos Emeralds. The pace is slower and more deliberate than earlier Sonic games, with an emphasis on careful navigation and puzzle-like exploration. It feels methodical, sometimes a bit clunky, but there's a strange satisfaction in herding those birds and nailing a tricky jump.
