Game Overview

I first played Sonic Boom on the Amiga back in 1987, a game published by SEGA Enterprises Ltd. and developed by Mediagenic. It was one of those early Amiga shooters that felt right at home on the platform, with smooth scrolling and colorful visuals that stood out at the time. The game didn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it delivered a solid arcade experience that kept me coming back.

You pilot a nimble aircraft through six vertically scrolling levels, shooting down enemy planes, tanks, and turrets while dodging their fire. The main goal is to survive each stage and defeat the boss waiting at the end. You collect power-ups to upgrade your weapons, and you get five continues with three lives each, which gives you a fair shot at making progress. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty ramps up steadily, especially in later levels where enemy patterns get more aggressive. It feels tense and rewarding when you finally clear a tough section or take down a boss.
