Space Position came out in 1990 as an arcade cabinet release from Galactic Dynamics. It was part of that wave of late 80s, early 90s shooters that filled arcades with bright vector-like graphics and synth soundtracks. The cabinet itself was nothing flashy, just a standard joystick and two fire buttons, but it drew you in with its clean, sharp visuals and that low hum of deep space.

You pilot a small, triangular ship through a series of single-screen arenas. Your goal is to survive each wave of enemies, which include swarming alien fighters and drifting asteroid fields. The ship can fire lasers in eight directions, and you're constantly rotating to aim while dodging incoming fire. The screen wraps around, so enemies can come at you from any edge. The pacing is relentless; you get a brief pause between waves, but then it's right back into the chaos. It feels like a tense, tactical dance where one wrong move ends your run.
