Play Space Invaders Online

Nintendo released this version of Space Invaders for the Game Boy in 1994. It was a solid port of the arcade classic, arriving during a period when handhelds were really starting to prove they could handle serious games. It felt right at home on that little gray screen.

You control a laser cannon at the bottom of the screen, moving it left and right to avoid a descending grid of aliens and their bombs. Your goal is to destroy every invader before they reach the bottom or you run out of lives. The aliens gradually speed up as you eliminate more of them, and a flying saucer occasionally crosses the top of the screen for extra points. Your shields break apart under fire, leaving you exposed. The tension builds steadily until it becomes a frantic race for survival. It feels like a pure, tense standoff against an ever-advancing threat.
