Game Overview

Space Invaders is that old-school arcade game where you’re a tiny ship at the bottom of the screen, desperately trying to blast rows of pixelated aliens before they reach you. The controls are dead simple—just left, right, and fire—but those aliens speed up as you take them out, and before long, you’re sweating over every shot.

There’s something hypnotic about the way they march back and forth, dropping lower with each pass. And that iconic, pulsing soundtrack? It still gets stuck in my head. The MAME version nails the original arcade feel, right down to the slightly janky movement that makes dodging their bombs way harder than it should be.

It’s pure, unfiltered 1978 arcade panic—no power-ups, no saves, just you and a looming alien swarm. I still lose way too many ships to that one sneaky shot from the edge of the screen.
