I first played Space Invaders on the Game Boy in 1994, a version published by Nintendo. It was a solid handheld take on the arcade classic, fitting right in among the portable games of that era. The simple, focused design made it easy to pick up and play in short bursts, which was perfect for the system.

You control a laser cannon at the bottom of the screen, moving it left and right to shoot rows of descending aliens. Your main goal is to clear each wave before they reach the bottom or you run out of lives. Key mechanics include taking cover behind destructible barriers and the increasing speed of the aliens as their numbers thin. The pacing is tense, especially as the invaders get faster and their bombs more frequent. It feels satisfying to methodically pick them off while managing your limited movement.
