Play Space Invaders (Japan) Online

Space Invaders came out on the NES in 1985, published by Taito. It was one of those early arcade ports that felt right at home on the console, simple and direct. You didn't need a manual or a story; you just plugged it in and started blasting.

You control a small laser base that slides left and right along the bottom of the screen. Your goal is to destroy every alien in the formation above before they land or bomb you into oblivion. The aliens march side to side, dropping lower each time they hit the edge, and their movement speeds up as you eliminate more of them. You have to hide behind small, destructible barriers for protection, but your own shots chip away at them too. The rhythm is tense, almost hypnotic, especially with that relentless, accelerating beat pulsing in the background. It feels like a race against the clock where every shot matters.
