Dodge pixel lasers in a tiny ship, fingers glued to arrow keys as neon aliens swarm in waves—simple until suddenly it’s not, and you’re scrambling to survive. That chunky MS-DOS chaos still holds up.

Space Strike came out in 2007 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a release by DivoGames that brought a handful of older titles back into circulation. It fits right into that era of straightforward, no-frills arcade shooters designed for quick sessions and high score chasing. The game doesn't try to reinvent the wheel; it just gives you a ship and a lot of things to shoot.
You pilot a small spacecraft viewed from above, moving it with the arrow keys and firing with the spacebar. Your goal is to clear each screen of enemies before advancing to the next, all while dodging a increasing number of projectiles and aggressive foes. Two mechanics define the experience: the tight, screen-by-screen progression that locks you in until all hostiles are eliminated, and the occasional power-up that briefly upgrades your firepower. The pacing is relentless; enemies spawn quickly and attack from all sides, making careful positioning and constant movement essential. It feels tense and immediate, a pure test of reflexes and spatial awareness that leaves little room for error.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
