Play Spider-Man and X-Men - Arcade's Revenge Online

Switching between heroes sounds cool until you're dodging unfair traps with Spider-Man's weird wall-climbing or getting wrecked by Storm's floaty jumps. At least Gambit's card throws feel satisfying when they actually connect.

Game Overview

Spider-Man and X-Men: Arcade's Revenge came out for the Sega Genesis in 1992, developed by Software Creations and published by LJN. It was one of those early side-scrolling action games that tried to capitalize on the popularity of Marvel's characters, landing right in the middle of the 16-bit era's love for comic book adaptations.

You control Spider-Man and four X-Men (Wolverine, Storm, Gambit, and Cyclops) across separate stages, each with unique abilities. The goal is to rescue your teammates from Arcade's Murderworld, navigating screen-by-screen levels filled with enemies, traps, and occasional vehicle segments. Spider-Man climbs walls and shoots webs, Storm flies and summons limited wind attacks, Gambit throws explosive cards, and Wolverine slashes with his claws. The game is notoriously difficult, with cheap enemy placements and unforgiving platforming that demands precise jumps and quick reactions. It feels like a relentless test of patience, where every small victory comes only after repeated failures.
