Spider-Man: The Arcade Game came out in 1991, developed and published by Sega. It was a side-scrolling beat 'em up, typical of the era, where you and up to three friends could team up to fight through waves of enemies. You control one of the heroes, moving from left to right, punching and kicking through Doctor Doom's henchmen. The main goal is to clear each screen of enemies before advancing; you fight thugs, robots, and eventually bosses like the Hobgoblin. Signature mechanics include character-specific special attacks, like webbing or projectile weapons, and team-up moves when players work together. The pacing is fast, with enemies swarming constantly, and the difficulty can feel punishing if you try to go it alone.
