Game Overview

I remember picking up Street Fighter II for the Game Boy around 1995, a portable version of Capcom's arcade hit. It was one of those games you'd play on long car rides or during lunch breaks at school, trading the bulky arcade cabinet for something that fit in your pocket. The graphics were understandably scaled back, but having a full fighting game on a handheld felt like a small miracle at the time.

You control one of eight World Warriors, each with their own special moves, and face off against the other fighters one by one. The main goal is to defeat every opponent and become the world champion. Signature mechanics include pulling off special moves like fireballs and dragon punches with precise joystick motions (adapted for the D-pad), and managing your health bar while reading your opponent's patterns. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be punishing, especially against later CPU opponents. It feels satisfying to land a well-timed super combo and watch your rival's energy bar drain away.
