Strider II on the Sega Master System came out in 1990, developed by Tiertex Design Studios. It was one of those late-era SMS releases that tried to bring arcade-style action home, though it often felt a bit rough around the edges compared to its bigger console siblings.
You control Hiryu, a nimble futuristic ninja, and your goal is to fight through a series of side-scrolling stages to take down a global enemy organization. The main mechanics involve screen-by-screen progression, using your plasma sword to cut down soldiers and robotic beasts, and making precise jumps across platforms. The pacing is fast, but the controls can feel stiff, and the difficulty spikes sharply in later levels. Playing it feels like pushing through a clunky but earnest interpretation of a more fluid arcade game.
