Strike Aces came out in 1989 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by Mindscape. It was a straightforward flight combat game from a time when 3D graphics were still primitive, and players expected more from gameplay than visual polish. You took control of a fighter jet, tasked with clearing out enemy forces across a series of missions that grew progressively more challenging.

You pilot a jet through side-scrolling levels, shooting down enemy planes and avoiding their fire and ground-based anti-aircraft guns. The main goal is to survive each stage while destroying all designated targets. Key mechanics include managing your speed to dodge incoming missiles, using limited special weapons for tough situations, and refueling mid-mission to avoid crashing. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be punishing, especially in later levels where enemy numbers increase. It feels tense and immediate, like a test of reflexes rather than strategy.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
