Game Overview

Striker came out for the Sega Genesis in Europe back in 1992, developed by Rage Software. It was one of those early soccer games that tried to capture the feel of the sport on a console, before the genre really exploded with more detailed graphics and deeper mechanics. It fit right in with the kind of straightforward, action-focused titles the Genesis was known for at the time.

You control a team of players, moving up and down the pitch, passing and shooting in an attempt to score goals. The main objective is simple: win the match. The game uses a split-screen view when players are far apart, switching to a full-screen close-up during attacks. Matches are fast, almost frantic, and the difficulty can be punishing, with goalkeepers that often feel unbeatable and AI that pressures constantly. Playing Striker feels like a chaotic, sometimes frustrating scramble where every goal feels hard-earned.
