Game Overview

Summon Night Twin Age is one of those DS RPGs that flew under the radar but totally deserves more love. You start off choosing between two main characters—a boy or girl—and their storylines weave together in this fantasy world where humans and summoned creatures coexist (sometimes uneasily).

The combat’s the real standout here—it’s all touchscreen-controlled, which sounds gimmicky but actually works surprisingly well. You’re swiping and tapping to attack, dodging enemy patterns, and timing your summons just right. At first I kept fat-fingering the wrong spells, but after a few battles it clicks.

Between fights, you’re exploring these compact but detailed areas, chatting up party members who actually have personality (the gruff knight Aldo grew on me), and making choices that nudge the story in different directions. The pixel art still holds up too—especially the summon animations.

It’s not perfect—the translation’s a bit rough in spots—but there’s something charming about how it mixes classic RPG tropes with DS-specific quirks.
