Supapoon came out on the Super Nintendo in 1995, developed by Yutaka. It was a late release for the system, a time when developers were really pushing what the hardware could do. You don't see it mentioned much, but it has a specific kind of energy that feels very much of its era.
You control a bouncing, neon ball that ricochets around enclosed screens filled with enemy fire. The main goal is simply to survive each stage, clearing it by destroying all enemies or hitting a specific target while dodging an overwhelming number of projectiles. The signature mechanics are all about using your own momentum against the environment; you bank shots off walls to hit foes and your movement is entirely based on precise angles of deflection. The pacing is relentless, a pure test of reflexes where one mistake often means starting the stage over. It feels like trying to solve a violent pinball puzzle while being shot at from all sides.
