Super Mario 4 (SMB1 Hack) [a2] is one of those weird bootleg NES roms that feels familiar but off, like someone remade the original Mario from memory. The first level looks right, but then you notice the goombas have different colors, and some platforms are just slightly misplaced.
It's not a full overhaul, more like someone tweaked small things, some enemies move faster, pits are in unexpected spots, and the physics feel a little floaty. There are new stages, but they mostly recycle assets in odd ways. Not bad, just... different.
If you've played the original to death, Super Mario 4 (SMB1 Hack) [a2] might be worth a look just for the novelty. Just don't expect a full sequel.
