Super Mario 4 (SMB1 Hack) [a3] is a weird little NES romhack that feels like someone remixed the original Mario with some off-brand energy. The first level looks familiar—bricks, pipes, goombas—but then you notice the colors are slightly off, and some enemies move in ways they shouldn't.
It's not polished, but there's something charming about the jank. Like when you jump on a koopa and it glitches halfway into the ground before sliding away. Or when you find a power-up that definitely wasn't in the original game. The new stages are hit or miss—some feel rushed, others have this odd creativity that makes you wonder what the creator was thinking.
