The controls feel amazing—Yoshi’s flutter jump and egg-throwing mechanic just click after a few tries, and before long you’re ricocheting eggs off walls to hit flying enemies mid-air.

The art style still holds up, too. Everything looks like it was scribbled by a kid with too many gel pens, from the wobbly platforms to the way enemies explode into little dancing stars. And those boss fights? Weirdly tactile—you’ll pound one with a giant mallet, out-stare another, and even play a shell game against a slot machine. It’s the kind of game where you’ll replay levels just to find every hidden flower or red coin, even though the crying baby guilt-trips you the whole time. Absolute SNES magic.
