Play Super Robot Spirits Online

Pick a giant robot, mash buttons to make it throw laser punches, and try not to get knocked out of the sky mid-combo. The clunky metal brawling somehow feels just right.

Game Overview

Super Robot Spirits came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1998, developed by Banpresto. It was part of that wave of late 90s fighting games trying to find a place on the console, offering something a little different from the usual arena brawlers or traditional one-on-one matches. The game pulled from Banpresto's own Super Robot Wars series, bringing those mechs into a more direct, action-focused format.

You control one of several large robots, engaging in one-on-one fights across flat, enclosed stages. The main goal is to deplete your opponent's health bar using a combination of basic attacks, special moves, and super attacks. Signature mechanics include dashing and short-range teleports for positioning, as well as super moves that require building up a separate meter. Matches are fast and fairly simple, with an emphasis on landing big combos rather than complex inputs. It feels satisfying to land a full sequence and watch your robot unleash a screen-filling laser or a series of heavy punches.
