Game Overview

Super Stadium came out for the Super Nintendo in 1993, published by Toshiba EMI. It was one of the baseball games on the system that tried to capture the feel of the sport without the big budget polish of some other titles. If you played a lot of SNES sports games back then, you probably remember it as a straightforward, no frills option.

You control a full baseball team, pitching, batting, and fielding through full nine inning games. The main goal is to win, of course, but getting there is a challenge. Timing your swings and pitches is crucial; a fraction of a second early or late and the ball goes nowhere or gets crushed. Fielding is clumsy, with players sliding around as if the infield is made of ice, which leads to a lot of errors and unexpected laughs. The game moves at a decent pace, but the difficulty can spike, especially when the computer starts connecting with every pitch. It feels like a chaotic, slightly broken afternoon at the ballpark where anything can happen.
