Game Overview

SVC Chaos: SNK vs. Capcom came out in 2003 for the Neo Geo, developed and published by SNK Playmore. It arrived late in the system's life, a time when 2D fighters were becoming less common in arcades, but it delivered exactly what fans of both companies wanted: a straightforward, no-frills crossover brawl.

You pick a fighter from either SNK or Capcom's roster and face off against opponents in one-on-one matches. The goal is to deplete your rival's health bar before they do the same to you. Key mechanics include the Guard Break system, which lets you shatter an opponent's guard if you time your attacks right, and the Ratio system, where you can assign different power levels to characters in team matches. The pacing is fast, with aggressive combos and screen-filling super moves, though the difficulty can spike sharply against certain CPU opponents. It feels like a love letter to pixel-based combat, messy and enthusiastic in equal measure.
