Play Terao no Dosukoi Oozumou (Japan) Online
You control a chunky little sumo wrestler, shoving and dodging until someone gets launched off the ring—simple moves, but nailing the timing feels so good.

Terao no Dosukoi Oozumou came out on the NES in 1990, developed by Toei Animation. It was one of those late era releases that tried something a little different, focusing on sumo wrestling when most games were still about platforming or shooting. It didn't get a lot of attention at the time, but it had a certain charm if you were into sports games with a specific Japanese flavor.
You control a single sumo wrestler, moving him around a small, circular ring to face off against an opponent. The main objective is to either push your rival out of the ring or force them to touch the ground with any part of their body besides their feet. Your main actions are a basic shove and a dodge; timing these moves correctly is everything, as a mistimed push leaves you wide open for a counterattack. The game progresses through a tournament structure, and the difficulty ramps up quickly, demanding precise inputs to overcome stronger AI opponents. It feels surprisingly tactical for such a simple setup, where every match becomes a tense battle of positioning and reflexes.
