Game Overview

Terminator on SNES is one of those games that makes you feel like you’re actually inside the movie—if the movie was a pixelated, side-scrolling gauntlet of robots and chaos. You start off choosing between Kyle Reese or the T-800, and right away, you’re dumped into this grimy future (or present, depending on who you picked) with nothing but a gun and a whole lot of enemies. Cops, hunter-killers, even random thugs—everything wants you dead.

The shooting feels satisfyingly chunky, and the levels throw in these little surprises, like hopping onto a motorcycle to mow down enemies or ducking into buildings to avoid turrets. It’s not easy—expect to die a lot—but the challenge makes finally beating a level feel like you just outsmarted Skynet itself. And the soundtrack? Pure eerie synth that nails that Terminator vibe.

If you grew up with the movies or just love punishing retro action, this one’s worth the frustration. Just don’t blame me when you’re out of continues by level three.
