The Aethra Chronicles: Volume One – Celystra’s Bane is a classic medieval RPG inspired by SSI’s Dungeons & Dragons Gold Box series. Set in the troubled kingdom of Celystra, the game follows the son of a disgraced knight who embarks on a quest to uncover the truth behind a royal infant’s disappearance. Alongside two companions, players must navigate political intrigue, tackle side quests, and recruit additional allies to form a party of six in this turn-based adventure.Gameplay revolves around deep character customization, with players assigning stats like Strength, Intelligence, and Agility, as well as skill proficiencies such as spellcasting or lockpicking. Combat is tactical and turn-based, staying true to its Gold Box roots. Originally released as shareware, the first episode (The Book of Prophecy) is free, while two additional chapters (Gems of Power and Demon’s Might) were available to registered users. Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
