Game Overview

I picked up The Jetsons: Cogswell's Caper for the NES back in 1992, a game developed by Natsume. It was one of those licensed titles that came out when the NES was still hanging on, but the 16-bit consoles were really taking over. It's based on the classic cartoon, but it doesn't try to do anything too fancy; it's just a straightforward platformer that feels very much of its time.

You control George Jetson, running and jumping through various levels to stop Mr. Cogswell's evil plans. The main goal is to sabotage his factories by flipping switches, which often changes the direction of gravity, making you walk on ceilings or walls. You also get to use a jetpack for some of the trickier jumps, though the controls can feel a bit floaty and imprecise. The game moves at a decent pace, but some sections are surprisingly tough due to awkward enemy placement and timing. Playing it feels like a mix of frustration and nostalgia, especially when you finally get past a tricky part after a few tries.
