Play Times of Lore on Msdos Online
Pick a scrappy hero, then dive into a pixel world where goblins don’t wait their turn—you’re either swinging first or eating dirt. NPCs ramble weird secrets while the soundtrack hums better than it has any right to.

Times of Lore came out in 1988 from Origin Systems, one of those MS-DOS games that felt ambitious for its time. It blended top-down exploration with light RPG elements, fitting right in with the era's growing appetite for fantasy adventures that weren't just about high scores.
You control a lone hero, moving screen by screen through forests, towns, and dungeons, fighting monsters with a sword or bow. The main goal is to gather the scattered pieces of the Crown of Lore to restore order to the land. You talk to villagers for clues, manage a simple inventory, and combat is straightforward but demands attention because enemies hit hard and health is scarce. The pacing is deliberate, sometimes slow, as you backtrack and piece together where to go next. It feels like a quiet, sometimes lonely journey where every discovery matters.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
