Timothy Leary's Mind Mirror came out in 1985 for MS-DOS, published by Electronic Arts. It was one of those oddball titles from the era that didn't try to be a traditional game, instead offering a digital interpretation of psychologist Timothy Leary's ideas about the mind. You boot it up and immediately know you're in for something different, a piece of software that feels more like an interactive personality tool than something you'd play for points or high scores.

You don't control a character so much as you navigate through a series of psychological prompts and questions. The main objective is to explore different facets of your personality, mapped onto Leary's eight-circuit model of consciousness. Signature mechanics include answering multiple-choice questions that branch into different psychological profiles, and watching the screen respond with abstract, sometimes jarring, visual and textual feedback. The pacing is slow and introspective, with no time pressure or enemies to defeat. It feels like poking around inside a very earnest, slightly clunky digital thought experiment.
