Play Tomarc The Barbarian Online
Guide Tomarc through mazes, dodge hazards, and switch to Senta to aim her crossbow at bats while trying to free her from a cage in this split-screen adventure.
Tomarc the Barbarian came out for the Atari 2600 in 1983, developed by Xonox. It was one of those games that tried to do something a little different on the system, with a split screen setup that felt ambitious for the hardware at the time. You don't hear much about it these days, but it had a certain charm in its attempt to blend action and strategy.
You control two characters simultaneously: Tomarc, who explores the dungeon, and Senta, who remains trapped in a cage. Using the joystick and a switch on the console, you alternate between guiding Tomarc through maze-like caves and aiming Senta's crossbow at incoming bats. Tomarc must avoid rats and other hazards while searching for keys to free Senta; all the while, you're constantly switching perspectives to keep both characters alive. The pace is frantic, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as enemies multiply. It feels like a tense juggling act where one mistake can undo all your progress.
