Play Transarctica Online
Command a rusty armored train through frozen wasteland politics—one wrong trade deal and rail pirates leave you stranded in the snow. Every station’s got secrets, and your last bullet might decide who betrays you next.

Transarctica, released in 1993 by Silmarils for MS-DOS, is a game that stands out from the typical fare of its era. It drops you into a frozen post-apocalyptic world where survival depends on managing a massive armored train, navigating tense political landscapes, and making deals with desperate factions. There are no elves or space marines here; just snow, steel, and the constant threat of running out of fuel or ammunition far from any friendly outpost.
You control the commander of this mobile fortress, making critical decisions about resource trading, route planning, and combat engagements. Your main objective is to gather intelligence and secure the future of your people, but every interaction carries risk. Signature mechanics include managing your train's limited cargo space for fuel, food, and weapons, engaging in tactical turn-based battles against rival trains and mutants, and negotiating with station leaders who might double-cross you. The pacing is deliberate, often tense, and the difficulty is unrelenting, demanding careful strategy at every turn. It feels like balancing on a knife's edge, where one misstep can lead to disaster, but smart choices bring a hard-won sense of accomplishment.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
