Game Overview

I picked up Treasures of the Savage Frontier back in 1992, one of those MS-DOS RPGs from Strategic Simulations, Inc. that really leaned into the Gold Box engine style. It was a time when party based adventures and tactical combat were becoming a staple for computer role playing fans, and this one fit right in with that gritty, methodical approach.

You control a party of adventurers, either imported from earlier games or built from scratch, and your goal is to clear your name after being framed for a crime. The game plays out through screen by screen exploration, turn based combat on a grid, and plenty of dialogue with NPCs. You'll spend a lot of time managing your inventory, choosing spells carefully, and making sure your formation doesn't leave anyone exposed. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty doesn't pull punches; mistakes in combat or conversation can have lasting consequences. It feels like every decision matters, from the gear you equip to the alliances you make.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
