Game Overview

Trick Boarder came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by Natsume. It was part of that wave of extreme sports games that tried to capture the energy of bigger console titles, but on a handheld. The graphics were simple, but the snowboarding action felt surprisingly fluid for the hardware.

You control a snowboarder down a series of timed downhill courses. The main goal is to finish each run as fast as possible while performing tricks off jumps to boost your score. Signature mechanics include timing your jumps to launch off ramps, then inputting directional commands to execute grabs and spins; landing cleanly is crucial, as crashes cost precious seconds. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty ramps up noticeably as courses get more complex with narrow paths and obstacles. It feels satisfying when you link a few good tricks together and beat the clock.
