Game Overview

I remember playing Trivial Pursuit on MS-DOS back in the day; it was part of that wave of classic games from 1984, developed by Scott Abbott and Chris Haney. It felt like a natural fit for the computer, a way to bring the board game experience to the screen without needing to set anything up or worry about the dog eating the cards. In an era when most computer games were about shooting aliens or solving text adventures, this was a straightforward, social option.

You control a simple cursor, moving your token around a digital board by rolling dice with a keypress. The main goal is to answer questions from six categories correctly to collect wedges for your playing piece. The signature mechanics are landing on colored spaces to trigger questions, trying to answer them before time runs out, and strategically aiming for the center hub to win. The pacing is deliberate, almost slow by today's standards, and the difficulty entirely depends on the obscurity of the questions in the database. It feels like a quiet, focused battle of wits against the machine.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
