Game Overview

Ultimate Fighter on SNES is basically a turbo-charged remake of Hiryu no Ken S, but with way more speed options. You play as Rick, a dude who has to enter this insane world tournament after some demon’s goons steal a sacred scroll and sword from his dojo. Most of the time, you’re just plowing through waves of enemies in classic side-scrolling beat 'em up style—until you hit those one-on-one boss fights, which feel like a totally different game.

There’s a surprising amount of modes here. VS. Tournament lets up to eight players duke it out (or you can just fight the CPU), with all these weird options like turning off ring-outs or messing with handicaps. Battle Mode is just you versus a boss of your choice, and Animation Mode turns fights into this weird turn-based thing where you pick attacks from a menu. Oh, and there’s this "Expert" control scheme where you have to aim at glowing weak points—sounds cool, but I mostly stuck with the standard controls.

It’s janky in that very '90s way, but if you’re into obscure SNES fighters with way too many options, this one’s got some weird charm.
