Up on the Nintendo DS came out in 2009, published by THQ. It was part of that wave of movie tie-in games that tried to capture the feel of the film on a handheld. This one stood out a bit more than most, at least for me, because it actually tried to do its own thing with the hardware.
You control Carl, Russell, and Dug, switching between them to use their unique skills. Carl uses his walker to move heavy objects and solve environmental puzzles, Russell swings from vines with his Wilderness Explorer rope, and Dug sniffs out hidden items and digs up collectibles. The main goal is to guide them through various levels, from the jungles of Paradise Falls to dark caves, to ultimately help Kevin the bird. The gameplay is a mix of light platforming, item fetching, and simple combat, with a pace that feels relaxed, never too punishing. It feels like a quiet, charming little adventure that fits perfectly in your hands.
