Game Overview

V-Rally on the Game Boy Color is one of those racers that feels way bigger than it has any right to be. You’ve got dirt flying everywhere, your little car sliding like it’s on ice, and somehow the tiny screen makes the speed feel insane. The first time I played, I wiped out on like three turns in a row—those tight corners don’t mess around.

What’s cool is how it nails that arcade rally vibe without fancy graphics. Championship mode’s the real deal if you want to sink your teeth into something, but honestly, I’ve lost way too much time just doing quick races between bus stops. The physics are slippery in that fun way where you’re constantly correcting, and when you finally nail a perfect drift? Chef’s kiss.

If you’ve played the console versions, it’s wild how much of that energy they crammed into this chunky little cartridge. Still holds up if you’re into that late ‘90s racing charm.
