V-Rally on the Game Boy Color came out in 1999, published by Infogrames. It was one of the few rally racing games on the system, trying to capture the feel of its bigger console cousins in a pocket format. For its time, it stood out simply by offering a dedicated rally experience on hardware not known for smooth 3D or fast driving games.

You control a rally car from a top-down perspective, navigating through winding, narrow stages against the clock. The main objective is to complete each course as quickly as possible without crashing or sliding off the road. Key mechanics include managing your car's grip on different surfaces like gravel and tarmac, timing your drifts around sharp corners, and sometimes repairing damage between stages. The game moves at a deliberate pace, and the handling is slippery, making it fairly challenging to keep control. It feels satisfying when you finally thread a series of turns without spinning out or hitting a barrier.
