Veil of Darkness came out in 1993 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, a collection that brought together a number of titles from that era. It was developed by Event Horizon Software and published by SSI, placing it among the many exploratory action-adventure games that thrived on the platform. You control a stranded pilot named Alex, who must unravel the curse plaguing a remote valley. Gameplay involves navigating the area screen by screen, fighting creatures like werewolves and vampires with a sword or crossbow, and solving environmental puzzles to progress. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical, as you search for keys and items while managing limited resources; the difficulty comes from both enemy encounters and the need to pay close attention to your surroundings. Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
