Viewtiful Joe - Double Trouble! on the DS is one of those games that makes you realize how weirdly fun the stylus can be. You still get Joe’s slick time-bending moves—slow-mo, speed-up, all that—but now you’re also drawing bridges, spinning platforms, and solving puzzles by scribbling on the touchscreen. It’s chaotic in the best way.
The art style pops just as much as the GameCube original, even on the smaller screen. And yeah, it’s tough—some of those later levels had me retrying way too many times—but pulling off a perfectly timed VFX combo never gets old. Just don’t expect the touch controls to feel as tight as buttons for the action bits.
If you’re into stylish, fast-paced platformers with a twist, this one’s a blast.
